Christmas Goodies: Share the Joy with Easy Homemade Treats!

A Beginner-Friendly Guide to Sweet Holiday Gifts.

There’s something magical about sharing homemade treats during the holidays! If you’re searching for easy, budget-friendly gifts that will delight your friends and neighbors, look no further. These two irresistible goodies—chocolatey caramel pretzel bites and dipped Nutter Butter wafer cookies—are sure to spread joy (and maybe a little laughter) this season. Even if you’re brand-new to baking, you’ll have delicious gifts ready in under an hour—and the hardest part will be resisting the urge to eat them all before you can wrap them up!

Pretzel Goodies Ingredients

  • 1 bag of small pretzels (square shapes like Snyder’s Butter Snaps work great, but any shape will do)
  • 1 bag of Rolo candies, unwrapped
  • 1 bag of whole pecans
  • Pretzel salt (for sprinkling)

Cookie Goodies Ingredients

  • 1 package of Nutter Butter wafer cookies (these are different from the usual Nutter Butter cookies and are a much lighter, delicate cookie.  You can use the regular cookies, if you prefer.)
  • About 8 ounces of melting chocolate (this is usually found in the baking aisle, but you can also find it with the party supplies)

Step-by-Step Instructions

Pretzel Goodies

  1. Preheat your oven to 225°F (107°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Arrange the pretzels in a single layer on the baking sheet, leaving about ½ inch between each one.
  3. Place one unwrapped Rolo candy on top of each pretzel.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 4–5 minutes, just until the Rolos look soft and shiny but not completely melted.
  5. Remove the tray from the oven. Quickly press a whole pecan on top of each Rolo, gently pressing down to squash the candy into the pretzel.
  6. Sprinkle each treat with as much pretzel salt as you like for a sweet-and-salty kick.
  7. Let the candies cool completely before packaging them up. (Pro tip: Hide them from hungry family members while they cool!)

Cookie Goodies

  1. Open the package of Nutter Butter wafers. Carefully separate them into individual cookies by gently cutting along the indentations with a sharp knife. (If using classic Nutter Butters, there is no need to cut them.)
  2. Place your melting chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds, stir, then continue heating in 15-second bursts, stirring after each, until the chocolate is completely smooth and melted.
  3. Dip each Nutter Butter cookie halfway into the melted chocolate. For a fun look, try dipping some diagonally and others straight in for a variety of designs. If you’re a true chocolate lover, go ahead and dip the whole cookie!
  4. Lay each dipped cookie on a parchment-lined tray and let them cool until the chocolate is set.

Finishing Touches: Packaging & Gifting

Once your goodies are cool and firm, place them into clear treat bags. Twist ties or festive ribbons add a cheerful touch, and don’t forget to attach a holiday gift tag. Your friends and neighbors will be grinning from ear to ear when they receive these homemade surprises—just be warned, they’ll probably ask for your secret recipe next year! Sharing homemade treats is a wonderful way to sprinkle a little extra joy and warmth into the holiday season. Enjoy every bite, every giggle, and every grateful smile. Happy holidays and happy snacking!
