Easy, Comforting, and Perfect for Busy Nights.
Sometimes you just want something quick, comforting, and easy without having to order takeout (again, lol). That was me tonight—I wanted something simple that I could throw together so I could keep working on my Blog. Next thing I know, it’s the subject of my next post!
I’ve made an old Pillsbury recipe before using crescent rolls and meatballs, but it was baked on a cookie sheet and honestly, it was pretty messy. Recently, I saw a post where someone used pizza dough in a pie tin with giant meatballs. That looked amazing, but I didn’t have pizza dough or large meatballs, nor did I have the time or energy to make them tonight. However, I did have crescent rolls and frozen meatballs, so I decided to combine the two ideas. It turned out excellent! The muffin tins neatly contain the ingredients and the crescent crust gets nice and crispy. I didn’t even need to thaw the meatballs, so prep took only about 5 minutes.
I hope you enjoy these as much as I did!
Ingredients
- 1 can refrigerated crescent rolls
- 8 frozen meatballs (I used 1oz meatballs, but any size up to 2oz would work)
- ½ cup pizza sauce (or marinara)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Olive oil
- Italian seasoning
- Garlic powder
Step-by-Step Instructions

- Preheat your oven to 375°F.
- Open the can of crescents. If using crescent rolls, gently press the perforated edges together to form a solid sheet of dough. If using a crescent sheet, simply unroll it flat on your counter.
- Using a knife or pizza cutter, cut the dough into 8 even squares.
- Lightly grease a muffin tin and place each dough square into a muffin cup, pressing gently to fit the cup.
- Spoon about 1/2 teaspoon of sauce onto the bottom of each dough-lined muffin cup.
- Place one frozen meatball on top of the sauce in each cup, then add another dab of sauce on top of the meatball.
- Fill the rest of each muffin cup with shredded mozzarella cheese, surrounding the meatball.
- Gather the corners of each dough square over the filling and pinch them together tightly to seal, then gently roll the sealed edge down for a neat package.
- Brush each pie with a little olive oil and sprinkle with garlic powder and Italian seasoning.
- Bake in the center of the oven for 20-25 minutes, until the crust is golden and crispy.

Serving Suggestions
- Pair these pizza pies with a crisp salad for a well-rounded meal.
- Enjoy them as finger food with a side of marinara for dipping—perfect for game night or casual gatherings.
- They make great party appetizers or fun lunchbox treats for kids and adults alike.

Have you ever been inspired to create a recipe out of necessity, using only what you have on hand? I’d love to hear how it turned out! I find that experimenting with what’s available often leads to the most creative meals.
This recipe reminded me that sometimes simple swaps—like crescent rolls instead of pizza dough—can be just as delicious. Next time, I might try adding sautéed veggies or swapping in different cheeses to mix things up. What would you try?
