Hot Crab and Artichoke Dip

I don’t know about you, but I absolutely adore appetizers. You’ll find plenty of recipes for dips and finger foods on this blog because appetizers are my favorite food group! This crab and artichoke dip is one of the most requested dishes whenever we host gatherings or bring something to a potluck.

This dip is creamy and cheesy, loaded with artichokes and packed with crabmeat. It pairs perfectly with classic crostini, but also tastes amazing with tortilla or pita chips. If you’d like to keep things a bit lighter or low carb, sliced veggies make a great option for dipping too.

Honestly, my husband and I sometimes turn this dip into dinner—it’s that good! I’m sure we’re not the only ones who enjoy appetizers as a meal. What are your favorite appetizer-for-dinner picks? Let me know in the comments!

Ingredients

  • 1 (8 oz) block of cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup of mayonnaise
  • 1 ½ cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese (Tip: You can substitute mozzarella or use a mix of both, if you prefer.)
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 (14 oz) jar marinated artichoke hearts, drained and finely chopped
  • 2 (6 oz) cans of crabmeat (You can use fresh crabmeat if you’re in an area where it’s good, or substitute with imitation crab if that’s your preference)
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced (optional)
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper, or to taste

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F and gather all your ingredients.
  2. Drain the artichoke hearts and finely chop them. Thinly slice the green part of the green onions and discard the whites.
  3. Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl and stir until thoroughly blended.
  4. Transfer the mixture to an ovenproof serving dish and place in the center of the preheated oven.
  5. Bake for about 25 minutes, or until golden and bubbly. (Tip: In a hurry? Microwave the dip for about 6 minutes, stirring halfway through—just be sure to use a microwave-safe dish. It may not brown on top, but it’s just as delicious!)

Serving Suggestions

  • Slice a loaf of French bread thinly and toast the slices in the oven with a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of garlic powder until golden. Serve the warm crostini alongside the dip.
  • Tortilla or Pita chips are an excellent choice if taking the dip to a party or if you just prefer the salty crispiness of a chip!
  • Fresh veggies like bell pepper strips, cucumber rounds, or celery sticks make great dipping options for a lighter spread.
