The Easiest Black Bean Dip

If you’re a fan of bean dip, you know there’s nothing quite like the creamy, savory goodness that pairs perfectly with tortilla chips, veggies, or even as a spread for tacos. After moving to Texas and falling in love with the bean dip at Gloria’s restaurant, I was determined to make something just as delicious at home—without complicating things.

This black bean dip is all about simplicity and bold flavor. With just three ingredients, you can whip up a dip that tastes like it’s been simmering for hours. The secret? Bacon grease. It adds a smoky depth that transforms ordinary beans into something special.

Ingredients

  • 1 – 15 oz can of seasoned black beans
  • 2 tablespoons bacon grease (save yours after making bacon, or grab Bacon Up from the store—it’s bacon grease, minus the mess!)
  • 2 tablespoons salsa (choose your favorite for a little kick)

Step by Step Instructions

  1. In a medium pan, warm the bacon grease over medium heat. This is where the magic starts—the aroma alone will make your kitchen smell amazing.
  2. Stir in the salsa and the can of seasoned black beans (juice and all). Let everything heat through, stirring occasionally.
  3. Once the mixture is hot, use an immersion blender right in the pan to blend everything until smooth. If you don’t have an immersion blender, transfer the mixture to a regular blender and blend, then return it to the pan.
  4. Continue heating the dip, stirring often, until it begins to darken in color. This step deepens the flavor. Taste and add salt and pepper as needed.

Tips and Serving Suggestions

  • No Bacon Grease? Don’t worry! Bacon Up is a great store-bought option, so you don’t have to make bacon just for this recipe.
  • Make It Your Own: Try different salsas for varying heat levels, or add a sprinkle of cheese on top for extra richness.

I’ve always loved bean dip, and it’s truly amazing how much flavor a little bacon grease can add. It’s the secret ingredient that makes this dip stand out. Plus, I’m all about easy recipes—if it doesn’t need to be complicated, why make it so? Whether you’re hosting friends, need a quick snack, or just want to bring a taste of Texas to your kitchen, this black bean dip is sure to become a favorite. Enjoy!
